Title of Speech: Multi-functional forests, ecosystem services and spatial approaches – the New Zealand experience
Professor Tim Payn holds a joint chair of Sustainable Forestry at Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology and Scion in New Zealand. He works on sustainable forest management and climate change, including environmental impacts of steepland harvesting, social license to operate, and forest ecosystem services. He is involved in international sustainability initiatives including the Montreal Process, Future Earth, the IUFRO Task Force ‘Sustainable Planted Forests for a Greener Future’ and the IUFRO Working Party ‘Research and Development of Indicators for Sustainable Forest Management’. He has been involved in the 2nd and 3rdInternational Congresses on Planted Forests in New Zealand and Portugal.
